Heroes Walk the Talk
Kids
need grown-ups who are deeply engaged in their healthy development:
adults who help them think through the possible consequences of their
decisions; grown- ups who practice respect, responsibility, caring and
honesty.
Heroes Play Well, Live Well
Kids
need to play. It stimulates the spirit, mind and body. It makes
exercising fun. They also need to see adults being active because kids
learn by seeing what adults do. Everyday YMCA members, by living a
healthy lifestyle, serve as role models.
Heroes Care and
Share
Kids need to be part of a caring, sharing
family. Parents rely on the YMCA for high quality child care, programs
and facilities. All of these help strengthen the entire family and
community.
Heroes Serve Others
Heroes
ensure that each child and family, regardless of their circumstances or
ability to pay, can be part of the YMCA. Heroes give their time and
skills as basketball coaches, mentoring kids as a Big Brother or Big
Sister, serving on a committee or board and those who inspire young
people to strive for more. Heroes know that even small gestures can
change lives and that it’s up to each of us to be the hero kids need.
